In Afghanistan, a large cross-sectional study examined quality of newborn care in public health facilities. In the article published in BMJ Open, the authors found that health care providers’ knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as skin-to-skin contact and newborn resuscitation, is limited, and many opportunities to prevent and detect newborn complications are missed. The article, "Quality of essential newborn care and neonatal resuscitation at health facilities in Afghanistan: a cross-sectional assessment," identified actionable recommendations for health-sector stakeholders in Afghanistan. |
