Studies have shown that the cost of transportation and missed days of work are among the barriers that keep men from seeking medical circumcision for HIV prevention. Technical experts from Jhpiego’s team in Zambia and Baltimore took part in a study that sought to overcome these barriers. The study team reported that, in Zambia, compensating men for transportation and lost wages resulted in a higher percentage of men getting circumcised and lower costs per client.
